NGC Special Labels and Designations for the 2022 Chinese Panda Coins

The highly anticipated 2022 Gold and Silver Pandas were released on October 20, 2021, and Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) is offering special labels and designations to celebrate the 40th anniversary of China's premier bullion coin. The complete 14-coin set contains eight Mint State Pandas and six Proof Gold and Silver Pandas. The release also includes a 1-gram Platinum issue and a 30-gram Platinum issue.

The attractive NGC special label options that are available for the 2022 Pandas include a new 40th Anniversary Gold Panda label that pays tribute to the 1982 Gold 500 Yuan Panda’s original design. This label will be used by default for all 2022 Gold Pandas, as well as commemorative coins and medals for the 40th anniversary of the issuance of Chinese Gold Pandas.

NGC is also offering the vibrant Panda Large label and Panda Ink Brush label, each by request for an additional $5 fee. 2022 Pandas received by NGC within the first 30 days of their release are eligible for NGC’s popular Early Releases label and designation. The obverse of the 2022 Pandas features the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests in the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, surrounded by “The People’s Republic of China” on the top and the year 2022 on the bottom. The reverse portrays two Giant Pandas playing joyfully in the snow to tie the coins to the 2022 Olympic Winter Games, which Beijing will host. NGC encapsulates the coins reverse up to showcase the panda design.

Submission Instructions

• Submit coins under the Modern grading tier or higher.
• Coins do not need to be submitted in the Mint packaging.
• Select the NGC Oversize Holder option (+$20 per coin) for Pandas with a diameter that exceeds 45mm. Please note that the Panda Ink Brush Label #887 is not available with the NGC Oversize Holder.
