NGC Registry Featured Set: Peace Dollars
Posted on 10/12/2021
In light of a recent milestone event, the 100th anniversary of the transition from the Morgan to the Peace Dollar, it is only fitting that we take a moment to recognize a truly remarkable NGC Registry Peace Dollar set. Pamela Henard’s Collection of Circulation Issue Peace Dollars is well known to both senior numismatists and budding US coin collectors alike as a remarkable presentation of many of the finest examples known in a single Peace Dollar collection to date.
NGC Senior Grading Finalizer Mark Salzberg has shared his thoughts on this extraordinary collection of Peace Dollars: “Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) was honored to exhibit Pamela and Truman Henard’s award-winning NGC Registry set of Peace Dollars at the 2020 FUN Show in Orlando. This furnished me the opportunity to closely examine these extraordinary coins. They left a deep impression on me, and I’d like to share some of my thoughts about the individual pieces and the set as a whole.”
Mr. Salzberg continued, “I’ve graded several hundred thousand Peace Dollars, and this is the best collection I’ve ever seen. You might find the occasional individual coin that wows you, and that’s what the coin hobby is all about, but a collection like this is one of a kind. I’ve been so fortunate to have been involved in the grading of this set. Pam and Truman are true collectors who should really be commended for building such a superb set. Most people don’t understand just how rare Peace Dollars are in the top grades because they are more likely to be drawn to the much more available Morgan Dollars. Each one of the coins in this set could be the singular highlight of any coin collection…” Read more >
Pamela began assembling her collection back in 2011, with the original goal of acquiring at least an MS 65 for each piece. Of course, this goal was not enough. With dedication and thoughtful planning, Pamela continued her quest for the finest examples of business-strike Peace Dollars she could find; her set now boasts 16 top-pops, including two MS 68's! Be sure to read the insightful and knowledgeable feedback by Mr. Salzberg in the comments section of this truly one-of-a-kind NGC Registry Set!
