Posted on 8/30/2021

The US Mint is releasing just 12,000 Palladium Eagles on September 2, 2021. See the "Submission Instructions" section of this article.

The 2021-W Palladium American Eagle is being released by the US Mint on September 2 at noon (ET). The coin, struck at the West Point Mint, has a limited mintage of just 12,000 pieces.

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®) is offering the elegant Palladium Eagle Special Label for no additional fee. Coins submitted within the first 30 days of release are also eligible for the popular NGC Early Releases and First Releases designations and labels. The high relief design of the Palladium Eagle was adapted from a coin and medal that were both designed by the famous sculptor Adolph A. Weinman. The “Winged Liberty” obverse is taken from the 1916-1945 “Mercury” Dime, while the dynamic eagle on the reverse is based on the 1907 American Institute of Architects gold medal.

Palladium Eagles were first released in 2017 from the Philadelphia Mint. In 2018, coin production was transferred to the West Point facility where a Proof version was created, followed by a Reverse Proof in 2019. Last year, coins reverted to the Uncirculated finish.
