NGC-certified Straits Settlements Set Among Highlights of Spink Auction

A set of rare coins from the Straits Settlements in Southeast Asia that Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®) certified are among the highlights of a Spink sale. Bidding is now open for the auction, which takes place on January 30, 2021.
The three-coin Straits Settlements 1882H Specimen Set, with each coin graded NGC SP 66, has an estimate of HK$250,000 to HK$350,000 (about $32,000 to $45,000 USD). The 5 Cents, 10 Cents and 20 Cents are pedigreed to the William Barrett Collection. Each coin shows Queen Victoria on the obverse and the denomination and STRAITS SETTLEMENTS on the reverse. At the time, the Straits Settlements consisted of Singapore and three other nearby British settlements.

- a Straits Settlements 1905B 50 Cents graded NGC PF 61 and pedigreed to the William Barrett Collection with an estimate of HK$150,000 to HK$240,000 (about $19,000 USD to $31,000 USD)
- a three-coin Straits Settlements 1891 Proof Set (Cent, Half Cent and Quarter Cent) graded NGC PF 65 BN to NGC PF 65 RB and pedigreed to the William Barrett Collection with an estimate of HK$150,000 to HK$200,000 (about $19,000 USD to $26,000 USD)
- a Penang 1810 Cent graded NGC MS 64 BN with an estimate of HK$80,000 to HK$200,000 (about $10,000 USD to $26,000 USD)
- a Straits Settlements 1903 20 Cents graded NGC Proof AU Details with an estimate of HK$115,000 to HK$160,000 (about $15,000 USD to $21,000 USD)
- a three-coin Sarawak 1863 Proof Set (Cent, Half Cent and Quarter Cent) graded NGC PF 64 RB and pedigreed to the William Barrett Collection with an estimate of HK$100,000 to HK$150,000 (about $13,000 USD to $19,000 USD)
- a three-coin Straits Settlements 1872 Set (Cent, Half Cent and Quarter Cent) graded NGC SP 62 BN to NGC SP 63 RB and pedigreed to the William Barrett Collection with an estimate of HK$100,000 to HK$150,000 (about $13,000 USD to $19,000 USD)
- a British North Borneo (1879) Cent graded NGC PF 64 BN with an estimate of HK$90,000 to HK$140,000 (about $12,000 USD to $18,000 USD)
- a Penang 1810 Cent graded NGC MS 63 BN with an estimate of HK$70,000 to HK$100,000 (about $9,000 USD to $13,000 USD)
- a Penang 1788 1/10 Dollar graded NGC MS 64 with an estimate of HK$58,000 to HK$80,000 (about $7,000 USD to $10,000 USD)
