NGC-certified Italian Gold Rarity Realizes Over $170,000 in Aste Bolaffi Sale

A spectacular Gold 100 Lire certified by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®) was the top lot in a sale held by respected Italian auction house Aste Bolaffi from December 10-11, 2020.

The rare Italy 1907 Prova PAG-148 Gold 100 Lire graded NGC SP 66+★ sold for € 140,300 (about $170,500 USD). All Gold 100 Lire are rare, but the 1907 date is particularly scarce.
The coin bears the image of King Victor Emmanuel III, who led Italy for 45 years. After his abdication in 1946, his son ruled for a month before the monarchy was abolished.

- an Italy 1864 100 Lire graded NGC AU 58 that realized € 24,400 (about $30,000 USD)
- an Italy 1861F Lira graded NGC MS 65 that realized € 7,320 (about $8,900 USD)
- a Netherland 1807 Kingdom of Holland 50 Stuivers graded NGC MS 64 that realized € 7,320 (about $8,900 USD)
