NGC and PMG Highlights in December 2020 Monetarium Singapore Auction

Monetarium (Singapore) Private Limited, one of the region's leading rare coin and banknote specialists, proudly presents its Auction 27, featuring rare coins graded by NGC, banknotes graded by PMG and other items. The auction is being held December 19-21, 2020.
The single banknote with the highest estimate in the auction is a Malaya / British Administration 1940 5 Dollars graded PMG 30 Very Fine. Only five examples of this rare note are listed in the PMG Population Report. It has an estimate of SGD 32,000 to SGD 40,000 (about $23,900 to $29,900 USD).
Other PMG-certified highlights include:
- a group of three Singapore ND (1967-72 or 1967-73) Color Trial Specimens (1, 5 and 100 Dollars) graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated NET to PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated, with an estimate of SGD 38,000 to SGD 42,000 (about $28,400 to $31,400 USD)
- a pair of two Straits Settlements / British Administration 1914-24 Dollars with Consecutive Serial Numbers, each graded PMG 66 Gem Uncirculated EPQ, with an estimate of SGD 28,000 to SGD 32,000 (about $20,900 to $24,900 USD)
- a pair of Malaya & British Borneo / British Administration 1961 10 Dollars with Consecutive Serial Numbers, each graded PMG 55 About Uncirculated EPQ, with an estimate of SGD 24,000 to SGD 30,000 (about $18,000 to $22,400 USD)
- a China / People's Republic 1953 10 Yuan graded PMG 40 Extremely Fine, with an estimate of SGD 23,000 to SGD 25,000 (about $17,200 to $18,700 USD)
- a Malaya / British Administration 1940 1 Dollar graded PMG 35 Choice Very Fine, with an estimate of SGD 18,000 to SGD 20,000 (about $13,500 to $15,000 USD)
- a group of 10 Singapore Board of Commissioners of Currency ND (1997) 2 Dollars including Solid 1's through Solid 9's and a 1 Million Serial Number graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated through PMG 66 Gem Uncirculated EPQ, with an estimate of SGD 18,000 to SGD 20,000 (about $13,500 to $15,000 USD)
- a Singapore Replacement / Star ND (1999) 100 Dollars with Solid-1's graded PMG 67 Superb Gem Uncirculated EPQ, with an estimate of SGD 18,000 to SGD 20,000 (about $13,500 to $15,000 USD)
- a Malaya & British Borneo / British Administration 1953 5 Dollars and 10 Dollars, each with a 1 Million Serial Number, graded PMG 20 Very Fine and PMG 30 Very Fine, respectively, with an estimate of SGD 16,000 to SGD 20,000 (about $12,000 to $15,000 USD)
- a Malaya / British Administration 1942 50 Dollars graded PMG 55 About Uncirculated, with an estimate of SGD 13,000 to SGD 15,000 (about $9,700 to $11,200 USD)
- a pair of Malaysia, Bank Negara ND (1967-72) 1,000 Ringgit Progressive Proofs graded PMG 30 Very Fine and PMG 40 Extremely Fine NET, with an estimate of SGD 13,000 to SGD 15,000 (about $9,700 to $11,200 USD)
- a Malaya / British Administration 1942 100 Dollars graded PMG 50 About Uncirculated, with an estimate of SGD 8,000 to SGD 10,000 (about $6,000 to $7,500 USD)
- a British North Borneo / Nissan Estate ND (1942) 5 Dollars graded PMG 30 Very Fine, with an estimate of SGD 4,000 to SGD 5,000 (about $6,000 to $3,700 USD)
- a Sarawak, Government of Sarawak 1935 1 Dollar graded PMG 66 Gem Uncirculated EPQ, with an estimate of SGD 3,600 to SGD 4,800 (about $2,700 to $3,600 USD)
- a British North Borneo / Nissan Estate ND (1942) 5 Dollars graded PMG 35 Choice Very Fine, with an estimate of SGD 3,000 to SGD 4,000 (about $2,200 to $3,000 USD)
NGC-certified highlights include:
- a China 1908 Silver Dollar graded NGC MS 60, with an estimate of SGD 3,000 to SGD 3,400 (about $2,200 to $2,500 USD)
- a China 1988 Year of the Dragon Platinum 100 Yuan graded NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo, with an estimate of SGD 2,500 to SGD 2,800 (about $1,900 to $2,100 USD)
- a Malaysia 1971 5 Ringgit graded NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo, with an estimate of SGD 1,800 to SGD 2,000 (about $1,300 to $1,500 USD)
- a Straits Settlements 1920 Cross Below Belt 50 Cents graded NGC Mint Error MS 65 with Reverse Misaligned Die, with an estimate of SGD 900 to SGD 1,000 (about $675 to $750 USD)
