World coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®) highlight a June Künker Münzauktionen und Goldhandel auction. Online bidding for Summer Auction Sales 337-338 is now open, with the auction concluding June 22-26, 2020.
Among the most anticipated coins in the sale is a Germany 1739 Bavaria 10 Ducat graded NGC MS 61 (photo cert). This rare Bavarian coin featuring Charles VII (also known as Karl Albert) was struck during a time when Karl was an elector from Bavaria (1726-45), but before he succeeded in getting himself elected Holy Roman Emperor (1742-45). Despite his lofty title, Karl's power was limited and his territories were overrun shortly after his coronation, causing him to flee from Munich. The coin has an estimated sales price of € 60,000 (about $68,000 USD).
Another highlight of the sale is a Germany 1815 CT Nassau-Usingen Taler graded NGC MS 63. This extremely rare coin features Friedrich Wilhelm von Nassau-Weilburg, who was ruler of Nassau-Weilburg from 1806 until his death in 1816. It has an estimated sales price of € 30,000 (about $34,000 USD).
A Russia 1836 1.5 Rubles graded NGC MS 60 is also expected to draw spirited bidding. This desirable coin comes from a mintage of 150 and features Russian Emperor Nicholas I on the obverse, along with his wife on the reverse surrounded by their seven children. It has an estimated sales price of € 30,000 (about $34,000 USD).
