Posted on 6/4/2020

Online bidding is now underway for the June 18 and 19 auction.

Stack's Bowers Galleries is holding several auctions in California in mid-June featuring NGC-graded US coins. Online bidding for the lots in the Stack's Bowers June 2020 US Coin Sale is now open, with the first two sessions ending on June 18 and 19.

Among the most anticipated coins in the sale is a 1915-S Panama-Pacific Exposition Octagonal $50 graded NGC MS 64. The coins were struck by the San Francisco Mint in connection with the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition, a fair held to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal. This desirable coin comes from a mintage of 645. Bidding was already up to $42,000 more than two weeks before the sale.

Another highlight of the sale is an 1860-O Seated Liberty Half Dollar graded NGC SP 66. Very little is known about these extremely rare special strikings. This coin is the higher graded of the only two such Specimen strikes in the NGC Census. The other example realized $64,625 at a January 2017 auction.
