NGC offers several free and convenient online resources for buyers and sellers of gold coins.

Whether you are in the market to buy or sell gold, NGC has a wealth of free information on its website to help guide you.

Melt Value Calculator

Lower condition and very common gold coins trade based on their metal content. A dealer may say they are paying "5% over," meaning they are paying 105% of the melt price of a coin. Since physical gold is usually sold at a premium to its melt price, a collector might try to buy gold coins as close to melt as he or she can, paying the smallest premium possible. includes a melt value calculator.

Another tab shows select world gold coins. The coin’s actual gold weight is displayed in troy ounces along with its melt value based on current spot prices for gold. The spot price used for calculation and time of last update are also shown.

This tool makes it very quick and easy for collectors to determine the base value of their gold coins.

In better condition, these coins are usually sold for a premium to their metal content. This value guide also displays average dealer retail asking prices for these coins in grades from NGC MS 63 to NGC MS 67. NGC Price Guide Editors scour the web and consult with dealers to update this chart every month. The last update date is shown. Price increases over the last month are displayed in green, decreases in red.
