Four 2020-W Proof Gold Eagles soar tomorrow. Special submission instructions must be followed. See the "Submission Instructions" section of this article.

The US Mint is releasing four 2020-W Proof Gold Eagles on March 19, 2020, at noon. Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®) is offering its popular Early Releases and First Releases designations and labels for these gorgeous coins.

Each of the four 2020-W Proof Gold Eagles is struck in 22-karat gold. The coins are a $50 one ounce coin, a $25 one-half ounce coin, a $10 one-quarter ounce coin and a $5 one-tenth ounce coin, all from the West Point Mint as indicated by the “W” mintmark. Collectors have the option to purchase the coins individually or as a set.

The American Gold Eagle series began in 1986 after the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985 authorized the US Mint to produce gold bullion coins. The obverse design is a modified version of Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ famous $20 gold piece, which many consider to be the most beautiful of US coins. Today, gold bullion — and the American Gold Eagle specifically — is also one of the most popular US Mint issues.

NGC’s headquarters in Sarasota, Florida remains open for business and is ready to certify all 2020-W Proof Gold Eagles submitted.
