NGC-graded European Rarities Excel at Japanese Auction

Four rare 17th century European coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®) were the top four lots at the Auction World sale in Japan on January 19, 2020.

This Germany 1617 20 Ducat graded NGC AU Details realized 28,305,000 Yen (about $260,000 USD)

They include a Germany 1617 20 Ducat graded NGC AU Details that realized 28,305,000 Yen (about $260,000 USD). The coin is attributed to Silesia-Liegnitz-Brieg, a region in modern-day southwestern Poland that was ruled at the time by brothers John Christian and George Rudolph.

Meanwhile, an Austria 1688IAN 10 Ducats graded NGC MS 62 with the bust of Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I realized 24,420,000 Yen (about $224,000 USD).
