Six NGC-certified Coins in Japan Auction Realize More Than 100 Million Yen
Posted on 10/23/2019
Coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®) excelled at Auction World’s October sale in Tokyo, with many vintage European rarities selling far above their starting bids. The total of the top six NGC-certified coins was over 109 million Yen (about $1 million USD).
A Great Britain 1768 2 Guinea Gold Pattern graded NGC PF 65 Cameo realized 27,195,000 Yen (about $251,000 USD). This coin features George III, but no currency-issue two guinea coins were struck during his reign. Small quantities of trial patterns continued to be produced, however, in anticipation of future coinage. Today, these coins are extreme rarities and highly sought after by collectors.
