Estimated at € 12,000 (about $13,500 USD) is a 1747MO Mexico 8 Escudos graded NGC MS 63, a gold coin that carries the bust of King Philip V of Spain, who ruled from 1683 until he abdicated to a son, Louis, in 1724, and again after his son died seven months later until Philip V died in 1746.

Another gold coin with the likeness of a Spanish monarch, a 1789M Spain 8 Escudos graded NGC MS 60, has an estimate of € 6,500 (about $7,300 USD). It has a bust of Charles IV, who ruled from 1788 until his abdication in 1808.

Guillermo Fau Carranza, Director of Communication and Marketing at Tauler y Fau, said interest in NGC grading and encapsulating coins is growing in Spain.

"Everyone knows NGC and PMG and I have noticed that collectors are becoming increasingly interested in certifying their collections and adopting the American model," Fau Carranza said. "I believe that with the passage of time the interest in certifying collections will increase and we want to be the first choice for collectors."
