He was the co-author of "Carson City Morgan Dollars," a book about the coins that have special appeal to collectors, in part because they were struck at a short-lived US branch mint near silver mines in western Nevada.
Ungar had served for the past 18 years as Vice President of the National Silver Dollar Roundtable (NSDR). Selby was a life member of the NSDR, and received the NSDR Life Time Achievement Award in 2003.
"Selby was a strong supporter of the NSDR, and was one of our strongest recruiters and sponsors of new members for the NSDR; I know that first-hand as one of those members which he sponsored," said Jeff Wuller, NSDR President. "I will miss his stories about silver dollars, and his support of the NSDR."
Born January 9, 1937, Ungar was a United States Air Force veteran. He is survived by his wife, Bernice, and a daughter, Dawn.
