PMG and NGC Highlights from Stack's Bowers January Auctions

An extremelty rare British Honduras note and a modern French coin were among the PMG- and NGC-graded collectibles that had some of the top prices realized at Stack's Bowers auctions in New York in January.

- Lot 30070 - Government of British Honduras. 1 Dollar, 1894 Issue, P-1, graded PMG 20 Very Fine NET. Price realized: $57,000, beating its its pre-auction estimate of $30,000 to $50,000.
- Lot 30085 - Cameroon, Banque Centrale, 5000 Francs, ND (1962), P-13, graded PMG 58 Choice About Uncirculated EPQ. Price realized: $9,600, more than triple its pre-auction estimate of $2,000 to $3,000.
- Lot 30093 - Canada, Banque du Canada. 2 Dollars, 1935, BC-4, graded PMG 65 Gem Uncirculated EPQ. Price realized: $20,400, above its pre-auction estimate of $10,000 to $15,000.
- Lot 30096 - Canada, Banque du Canada, 5 Dollars, 1935, BC-6, graded PMG 65 Gem Uncirculated EPQ. Price realized: $24,000, above its pre-auction estimate of $10,000 to $15,000.
- Lot 30132 - China, Banque Industrielle de Chine, 10 Dollars, 1914, P-S397Fa, graded PMG 35 Choice Very Fine. Price realized: $11,400, above its pre-auction estimate of $5,000 to $7,000.
- Lot 30296 - Italy, Banca d'Italia, 500 Lire, 1950 Issue, P-90, graded PMG 50 About Uncirculated EPQ. Price Realized: $9,600, above its pre-auction estimate of $3,000 to $5,000.
- Lot 30349 - Panama, Banco Central de Emision de la Republica de Panama, 5 Balboas, 1941, P-23a, graded PMG 30 Very Fine. Price Realized: $10,800, above its pre-auction estimate of $6,000 to $10,000.
- Lot 30440 - Tahiti, Banque de L'Indo-Chine, 20 francs, 1914, P-2, graded PMG 25 Very Fine. Price Realized: $6,600, above its pre-auction estimate of $3,000 to $5,000.
NGC-graded highlights
- Lot 20138 - France, Pavillon d'Or, ND, Philip VI de Valois (1328-50), graded NGC MS 65. Price realized: $18,000, in line with its pre-auction estimate.
- Lot 20227 - France, 1784-A 1/2 Louis d'Or, Paris Mint, Louis XVI (1774-92), graded NGC AU 58. Price realized: $13,200, above its pre-auction estimate of $10,000 to $12,000.
- Lot 20257 - France, 1980 50 Francs Piefort Struck in Platinum, graded NGC PF 68 Cameo. Price realized: $16,800, more than double its pre-auction estimate of $6,000 to $8,000.
- Lot 20347 (three coins) - Great Britain, 1806 Proof Set: Farthing, Half Penny, Penny, graded NGC PF 67 Ultra Cameo or NGC PF 68 Ultra Cameo. Price realized: $18,000, more than double the pre-auction estimate of $6,000 to $8,000.
- Lot 20349 (three coins) - Great Britain, 1806 Proof Set: Farthing, Half Penny, Penny, graded NGC PF 66 RD Ultra Cameo or NGC PF 67 RD Ultra Cameo. Price realized: $10,200, more than double its pre-auction estimate of $3,500 to $5,000.
- Lot 21043 - Judaea, First Jewish War Silver Half Shekel, ND Year 3 (A.D. 68-69),, graded by NGC Ancients as EF, Strike: 5/5, Surface 3/5, Scratches. Price Realized: $22,800, more than double its pre-auction estimate of $8,000 to $10,000.
- Lot 21140 - Japan, 1874 50 Sen, graded NGC MS 62. Price Realized: $48,000, double its pre-auction estimate of $20,000 to $25,000.
- Lot 21351 - Russia, 1898AT 50 Kopek, graded NGC PF 65 Cameo. Price Realized: $40,800, above its pre-auction estimate of $20,000 to $25,000.
