November Champion Macau Auction features rarities graded by PMG and NGC.

The November Champion Macau Auction features a number of rarities graded by PMG and NGC. The auction will be held at the Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16 in China on November 26th and is jointly sponsored by the Macau Numismatic Society, which hosts its annual show 11/24-26 at the nearby Kam Pak Community Center.

  • Lot 277 CHINA-TIBET 1909 One Srang Silver, L&M 657, Y9, Chang CH58 (Kann 1438), NGC AU55. Damkoehler Collection. Shortly before the British military invasion reached Lhasa in 1904, the Dalai Lama fled to Mongolia and later to Peking. He returned to Lhasa in December 1909, but in February 1910, a Chinese army marched into Lhasa, and the Dalai Lama fled again, this time to India. This coin, with traditional design, was struck at the Dode Mint, but because the coin is dated Year 1 of Chinese Emperor Hsuan T'ung (Xuan Tong), the coin was not popular in Tibet. Several die varieties of this coin are known to exist. Estimate: US$2,000-4,000
