Stack’s Bowers Hong Kong, China Auctions Show Clout of NGC and PMG

Coins graded by NGC and notes graded by PMG were well-represented this month at the Stack’s Bowers auctions in Hong Kong, China, held in conjunction with the Hong Kong, China Coin Show (HKCS).

NGC Highlights - Vintage Coins
- Lot 60246 - CHINA. Kiangnan. 3 Mace 6 Candareens (50 Cents), ND (1897). Heaton Mint, graded NGC PF 67. Realized $144,000
- Lot 60233 - CHINA. Hunan. 3.6 Candareens (5 Cents), 1902. Wuchang Mint, graded NGC AU 55. Realized $60,000, well above its pre-auction estimate of $5,000-$7,000
- Lot 60169 CHINA. Pattern 1/2 Dollar (50 Cents), Year 25 (1936), graded NGC MS 64. Realized $45,600

- Lot 62052 - CHINA. 1,000 Yuan, 1992. Panda Series, graded NGC PF 68 Ultra Cameo. Realized $45,600, beating its pre-auction estimate of $25,000-$35,000
- Lot 62043 - CHINA. 1,000 Yuan, 1990. Panda Series, graded NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo. Realized: $31,200, beating its pre-auction estimate of $20,000-$25,000
- Lot 62075 - CHINA. 5 Yuan, 1997. Panda Series, graded NGC PF 70 Ultra Cameo. Realized $14,400, more than double its pre-auction estimate of $5,500-$7,000
