“With more than 1,400 lots of stunning numismatic rarities, our Ft. Lauderdale Rarities Sale promises to be one of the most important auctions of the New Year,” said Bowers and Merena President Steve Deeds. “Leading the way in anchor consignments is the James W. Lull Collection—in our opinion, the finest type set of business strike coinage ever offered at auction. Virtually all coins in the collection grade Gem or Superb Gem, and many are the finest known for their respective issues. Additional coins are tied for finest known honors at the two major grading services.”
According to Bowers and Merena Director of Numismatics Jeff Ambio: “The Excalibur Collection also includes some of the most important highlights in our Ft. Lauderdale Rarities Sale. It has been said that the Excalibur Collection is the finest set of proof Morgan Dollars available on the market, and it certainly ranks as one of the top collections of its kind anywhere. The set includes 14 coins graded Proof-67 or finer, and examples of branch mint proofs struck at New Orleans, Carson City, and San Francisco.”
Bidders should look for the online version of the Ft. Lauderdale Rarities Sale at the Bowers and Merena website, www.bowersandmerena.com, around the middle of December 2004. Internet bids will be accepted at that address, and information about our Live Online Bidding feature can also be found there. To order a printed catalog, contact Bowers and Merena at 800-458-4646.
