Coins depicting coins are popular with collectors around the world. To commemorate 100 years of South African coinage, this Silver 1 Rand issue was created. The reverse design features depictions of several popular South African coins made in the years 1892-1992.
As with many modern coin issues, improper storage caused a haze to develop on the surface and handling left the slight evidence of a fingerprint on the obverse at 12 o’clock. Experience has allowed the NCS conservators to know exactly how to correct such problems. Following conservation, this coin graded very highly with standard numeric grading. This coin also qualified for NCS's special modern tier. For a low fee of $22.50, a coin dated 1970-date will be both conserved and graded with NGC.
