Conservation Showcase: Proof 1987 S 50 Cent

This 1987 S Proof Kennedy Half Dollar had developed a slight haze and a dull brown tone over the past few decades. The haze and tone made this coin stand out for one collector and not in a desirable way. The NCS conservators were able to remove the haze and the dull brown color from the surface of this Kennedy Half prior to grading and encapsulation.

The submitter of this modern coin was able to take advantage of the special Modern rate with NCS which includes both conservation and grading of coins from 1970 to present at $22.50 each. This coin was able to grade very well with NGC following the removal of the haze.
