We Have a Winner! Collector Claims $2,500 Bounty for the First NGC Submission of the July 4th Privy Quarter
Posted on 7/7/2026
The bounty set on the July 4th Privy Quarter by NGC has been claimed! Congratulations to Mike Trout of Bennettsville, South Carolina, who was the first to send in the commemorative coin for grading. The coin passed through the grading room on July 6, 2026, where NGC’s expert graders ensured its authenticity and gave it a grade of NGC MS 66. It is now the first example in the NGC Census. As promised, NGC has awarded Trout with $2,500 for being the first to submit an authentic example of the circulating rarity.

The US Mint produced 250,000 total Semiquincentennial 2026 Declaration of Independence Quarters featuring a “July 4th” privy mark, and then distributed the coin to various banks and financial institutions across the country. These limited quarters are identifiable by the “July 4th” notation on the obverse of the coin to the left of Jefferson’s head. Additionally, the circulating rarity bears no mint mark, setting it apart from other Semiquincentennial quarters of its kind. The quarters began to circulate randomly during the week of the Semiquincentennial.
Even though the bounty has been claimed, keep an eye out for these July 4th quarters in your everyday transactions — it’s possible that you may find one in any recently acquired loose change! If you find one, send it to NGC, and don’t forget to request the officially licensed NGC America250™ certification label. Only available from NGC, the label features the official America250™ logo of the United States Semiquincentennial Commission, which was established by Congress to commemorate the important milestone in American history. Congratulations again to Mike Trout!
