NGC Offers $2,500 Cash Bounty on First Submission of the Circulating July 4th Privy Quarter

Attention, collectors — if you’re looking for a special way to commemorate the US Mint releases celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States (while securing some extra cash along the way), this challenge is for you!

NGC® is putting a bounty on the July 4th Privy Declaration of Independence Quarter — a circulating rarity that is being released in honor of its titular holiday. The first collector to submit the Declaration of Independence Quarter featuring the “July 4th” privy mark to NGC for grading will receive a bounty of $2,500 cash. This friendly competition is open to anyone with a paid NGC collector account. Please note: NGC Dealers are not eligible to receive the $2,500 bounty.

What is the 4th of July Privy Quarter?

In celebration of the United States’ Semiquincentennial, the US Mint is producing 250,000 Semiquincentennial 2026 Declaration of Independence Quarters featuring a special “July 4th” privy mark in addition to its previously announced commemorative coinage. Unlike the other coins and medals, however, these circulating rarities aren’t available for sale on the Mint’s website. Instead, they will be randomly inserted into circulation through banks and financial institutions worldwide, meaning just about anyone could find one in an everyday transaction!

The July 4th Privy Quarter is easily identifiable by the “July 4th” notation on the obverse of the coin to the left of Washington’s portrait. Additionally, the circulating rarity will bear no mint mark, setting it apart from other Semiquincentennial quarters of its kind. For more information about this circulating rarity, go here.
