NGC Special Labels and Designations for the 1776-2026 Reverse Proof Morgan and Peace Dollars

The US Mint has announced that the first of the 1776-2026 Morgan and Peace Dollars are available for sale on July 9, 2026. The first two issues are the Reverse Proof 1776-2026 Morgan Dollar and Reverse Proof 1776-2026 Peace Dollar; an Uncirculated set will be available later this year.

To accompany certified coins, NGC® is offering a variety of special labels and designations that enhance the coins and mark the occasion of their release, including the popular NGC Early Releases and First Releases labels, as well as the America250™ US Flag label.

A storied coin of the Old West, the Morgan Dollar was minted from 1878 to 1904 and again in 1921. The Peace Dollar, minted from 1921 to 1935, was a symbol of America’s modernization in the 20th century in addition to commemorating the peace achieved after World War I.

After the US Mint retired the famous Morgan Dollar in 1921, the Peace Dollar was introduced. In 2021, to recognize the 100th anniversary of this significant transition, the US Mint released a new series of Morgan and Peace Dollars.

The production of these new Morgan and Peace Dollars was authorized by the 1921 Silver Dollar Coin Anniversary Act. The initiative to pass the act was boldly led by Thomas J. Uram, retired Chairman of the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC), who signs certification labels exclusively for NGC. 1776-2026 Morgan and Peace Dollars certified with the NGC Thomas J. Uram Signature Label will be available through select retailers.

NGC has graded more than 5.5 million vintage Morgan and Peace Dollars, including more than 800,000 modern Morgan and Peace Dollars. The 1776-2026 Reverse Proof mintage limits and tentative dates when the coins will be available for purchase through the US Mint are:

• 1776-2026 Reverse Proof Morgan Dollar: 250,000 (July 9)
• 1776-2026 Reverse Proof Peace Dollar: 250,000 (July 9)

The Semiquincentennial is an opportunity for Americans to reflect on the nation's past, present, and future, while celebrating the contributions of all Americans throughout history during the nation's 250th anniversary. NGC is proud to have partnered with America250™ to celebrate this important event in American and numismatic history.

The US Mint is releasing several special one-year-only changes to popular American coinage, which include special numismatic coins and medals in 2026 that feature unique designs and enhancements to mark the occasion. Many of these coins also feature the dual dates of “1776” and “2026,” reminiscent of the one-time changes made for the United States Bicentennial 50 years ago. In addition, select coins feature a Liberty Bell mintmark, including the 1776-2026 Reverse Proof Morgan and Peace Dollars. The NGC America250™ certification label will be available for each of these upcoming coveted releases.

Available for all submitters of 1776-2026 Morgan and Peace Dollars, the NGC Morgan Dollar label and the NGC Peace Dollar label convey the industry and optimism of the American spirit embodied by these coins. The labels are also offered for bulk submissions of vintage Morgan and Peace Dollars, and oversize versions are available for bulk submissions of multi-coin sets.

Additionally, all submitters of 1776-2026 Morgan and Peace Dollars can select the popular NGC Early Releases or First Releases designations if they are received by NGC within the first 30 days of release.

Bulk submissions

With the exception of qualifying FUN Show submissions, NGC’s First Day of Issue designation and labels are available for select bulk submissions only. To qualify for First Day of Issue, coins must be purchased within one day of the first day that a mint makes a new coin issue available for sale and must be received by NGC or an NGC-approved depository within one week of the release date. NGC will require that the submitter provide adequate evidence (including purchase receipts) to demonstrate the date when the coins were purchased.
