Spink Offers Vintage and Modern Coins from China Certified by NGC

Fascinating coins from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau that are certified by NGC® are among the world rarities in an upcoming auction. Online bidding is already underway for Spink's CSS126A - China, Hong Kong and World Banknotes and Coins Auction, which concludes on July 2, 2026.

The top NGC-certified highlight is a China YR25(1899) Chihli Silver Dollar graded NGC AU 58 (lot 176), with an estimate of HKD60,000 to HKD80,000 (about $7,700 to $10,200). More than 160 examples of this coin are numerically graded in the NGC Census, with only 39 graded higher. These coins were struck near the end of the imperial era for the province of Chihli in northern China that was associated with the capital Beijing.

Other NGC-certified highlights in the auction include:

• a Macau 2003 Gold 500 Patacas - Macau Grand Prix 50th Anniversary graded NGC PF 70 Ultra Cameo (lot 271), with an estimate of HKD9,000 to HKD12,000 (about $1,100 to $1,500)
• a Macau 1978 Gold 500 Patacas - Grand Prix, Decals on Car graded NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo (lot 267), with an estimate of HKD9,000 to HKD12,000 (about $1,100 to $1,500)
• a Macau 1978 Gold 500 Patacas - Grand Prix, No Decals on Car graded NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo (lot 268), with an estimate of HKD9,000 to HKD12,000 (about $1,100 to $1,500)
• a China (1900-06) Kwangtung Cent graded NGC MS 65 BN (lot 205), with an estimate of HKD8,000 to HKD10,000 (about $1,000 to $1,300)
• a China Kirin 50 Cents - Flower Basket graded NGC XF 40 (lot 201), with an estimate of HKD4,000 to HKD6,000 (about $500 to $750)
• a Hong Kong 1905 50 Cents graded NGC MS 62 (lot 263), with an estimate of HKD4,000 to HKD5,000 (about $500 to $650)
