The June auctions also include German and other European rarities, many with a royal pedigree.

Two examples of Russia’s highly desirable “Imperial Family” 1.5 Rouble coin are among more than 100 stunning rarities certified by NGC® that are found in two upcoming sales presented by respected German auction house Künker. Online bidding is already, with Auction 442 concluding on June 23, 2026, and Auction 444 on June 25-26, 2026.

Auction 442 showcases the Imperial Collection, historic coinage that was assembled by the House of Hohenzollern, a Central European royal family dating back centuries. It includes rare European coins, medals, and special royal issues, making it one of the world’s most important numismatic collections.

Among the highlights of this auction is a Russia 1835 Imperial Family 1.5 Roubles graded NGC MS 64 (Auction 442, lot 297), with an estimate of €250,000 (about $293,000). Only 36 examples of this coin showing the Emperor Nicholas I and his family were struck, making it one of the rarest and most celebrated issues of Imperial Russian numismatics. This particular example once belonged to the Hohenzollern Museum at Schloss Monbijou in Berlin and previously came from the estate of King Frederick William IV of Prussia, further tying the piece to Europe’s interconnected royal families.

Other NGC-certified coins offered in Auction 442 include:

  • a Germany 1847-dated A. Humboldt ‘Kosmos’ Publication Gold Medal graded NGC MS 65 PL (lot 154), with an estimate of €40,000 (about $47,000)

In Imperial Russian numismatics, novodels were authorized restrikes created primarily for collectors, dignitaries, and presentation purposes rather than circulation. This particular coin has a similar Imperial Family design, with the reverse showing the emperor’s wife and their children, including Alexander II, his successor.
