Posted on 4/10/2026

Two early 18th century coins from South America are each expected to realize five figures in the early May sale.

Two rare South American coins struck just a few years apart and now certified by NGC® are among the top highlights in an upcoming auction. Online bidding is already underway for respected Portugal-based auction house Filmoedas' Auction 12, which concludes on May 3, 2026.

In the spotlight is a Peru 1712L M 8 Escudos graded NGC AU Details (lot 99), with a starting price of €20,000 (about $23,000). NGC has certified fewer than 130 examples of this highly desirable high-denomination coin from the Spanish colonial era.
