NGC Special Labels and Designations for the 2025 Batman Gold Coin and Silver Medals

On September 25, 2025, the US Mint released the 2025-W Batman 24-Karat Gold Proof Coin, the 2025-P Batman 2.5 Ounce Silver Medal and the 2025-P Batman 1 Ounce Silver Medal for presale as part of its Comic Art Coin and Medal Program. The 24-karat Gold Proof coin and the 2.5-ounce silver medal are still available to order, with the coins expected to ship in early 2026. However, the 1-ounce silver medal is currently unavailable (it will be restocked at a later date). Orders are starting to ship now. Struck at the West Point Mint, the gold coin has a mintage limit of only 10,000, while the 2.5-ounce silver medal, which was struck at the Philadelphia Mint, has a mintage limit of only 25,000.

To commemorate these limited-edition coins and medals, Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) is excited to offer a variety of designations and labels, including the popular NGC Early Releases and First Releases Labels. Plus, NGC is thrilled to introduce a special Batman Label with exclusive licensed art by renowned comic book artist Jim Lee, who has served as President, Publisher and Chief Creative Officer of DC — the publisher of Batman — since 2013.

The US Mint and DC's much-anticipated collaboration on the groundbreaking Comic Art Coin and Medal Program celebrates comic art as a uniquely American art form, while honoring superheroes who represent the best of American culture and values. The gold coin and silver medals each depict Batman ready to fight crime in Gotham City while also displaying the Dark Knight's steadfast courage and his never-ending crusade for justice.

The obverse design depicts Batman leaping into action to protect those in need, with a stone-carved eagle perching atop a Gotham City building behind him. Meanwhile, the reverse design features the Dark Knight against the background of Gotham City while the Bat-Signal shines brightly in the sky.

For coins to qualify for the Early Releases and First Releases designations, NGC must receive submissions within the first 30 days of release.

• Submit the coins under the Modern grading tier or higher.
• The 2.5-ounce silver medal requires an Oversize Holder
• If you would like Mint packaging returned, select “Return Mint Packaging” on the NGC Submission Form. The fee is $5, plus the cost of shipping.

Bulk Submissions

NGC’s First Day of Issue designation and labels are available for select bulk submissions only. To qualify for First Day of Issue, coins must be purchased within one day of the first day that a mint makes a new coin issue available for sale and must be received by NGC or an NGC-approved depository within one week of the release date. NGC will require that the submitter provide adequate evidence (including purchase receipts) to demonstrate the date when the coins were purchased.
