Struck under Catherine the Great’s reign, this coin is a potent emblem of imperial Russia. The obverse bears Catherine II’s regal crowned bust, while the reverse arranges crowned imperial shields in a cruciform pattern with the date nestled in the angles. The NGC Census records 19 examples of this coin, with only one graded higher than this.
