NGC Special Labels and Designations for the 2025 American Liberty High Relief Gold Coin and Silver Medal
Posted on 8/12/2025
On August 21, 2025, the US Mint is releasing the 2025-W American Liberty $100 High Relief Gold Coin and the 2025-P American Liberty Silver Medal, which celebrate American liberty. Struck at the West Point Mint, the gold coin has a mintage limit of only 12,000, while the silver medal, which was struck at the Philadelphia Mint, has a mintage limit of only 60,000.
To complement the coins and medals, Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) is offering a selection of special certification labels, including the American Liberty Flag label and the ever-popular NGC Early Releases and First Releases labels. Coins received by NGC within the first 30 days of release are eligible for NGC's Early Releases and First Releases designations and labels. Learn more about Early Releases and First Releases here. The obverses of the gold coin and silver medal depict a sunflower and a bee, representing the stewardship necessary to maintain liberty. The US Mint's American Liberty Gold Coin and Silver Medal Programs celebrate modern interpretations of American liberty, by exploring themes beyond classical portraits of allegorical "Liberty." For decades, the US Mint has issued various coins depicting liberty personified by female figures. The 2025 American Liberty Gold Proof Coin and Silver Medal, once again, offer a different interpretation — a bold representation of the stewardship required to preserve American liberty.
The reverse design depicts an energetic and swirling modern depiction of a bald eagle. As America's national bird, bald eagles symbolize strength, freedom and independence. The one-ounce coin contains .9999 fine 24-karat gold, includes a reeded edge, a high relief Proof finish and a 'W' mintmark representing West Point. The one-ounce medal contains 99.9% fine silver, with a brilliant Proof finish and bears the 'P' mintmark representing Philadelphia.
