German Colonial Rarity Among NGC-certified World Coins Offered in Künker Sales

The five-part auction series is scheduled for September 23-28 and includes vintage coins from Central Europe, China and elsewhere.

Coin collectors will flip over the wide selection of vintage world coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) available in a five-part auction series. Bidding is already underway online for Auctions 410, 411, 412, 413 and 414, being presented by Künker on September 23-28, 2024.

Among the most exciting lots is a German New Guinea 1895A 20 Marks graded NGC PF 64 Cameo (Auction 413, lot 3360), with an estimate of €50,000 (about $55,000). German New Guinea was a protectorate in the late 1800s and early 1900s centered on northeastern New Guinea and it included other eastern Pacific Islands. Copper and silver coins from the New Guinea Company were issued only with a date of 1894, while Gold 10 and 20 Marks were issued only with the 1895 date. A gorgeous design including a Bird of Paradise was used on most of the coins.

Also offered in this auction is an Austria 1643 Vienna 10 Ducat graded NGC AU Details (Auction 412, lot 1129), with an estimate of €30,000 (about $33,000). This coin was struck near the end of the 30 Years' War, under the reign of Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand III. It features intricate designs of the Habsburg Monarchy, including a double-headed eagle on the reverse.

  • a US 1800 $5 graded NGC MS 64 PL (Auction 412, lot 1506), with an estimate of €30,000 (about $33,000)
  • a Germany 1647 LW Brunswick-Luneburg-Celle 4 Taler Dav-LS134 graded NGC AU 58 (Auction 412, lot 1583), with an estimate of €20,000 (about $22,000)
  • an Anglo-Gallic (1362-72) 1 Pavilion d’Or - Edward the Black Prince graded NGC MS 64 (Auction 412, lot 1168), with an estimate of €15,000 (about $17,000)
  • a set of nine Haiti 1971 100 Gourdes graded NGC Proof Details to NGC PF 66 Ultra Cameo (Auction 412, lot 1303), with an estimate of €10,000 (about $11,000)
  • a Germany 1790 Bavaria Ducat graded NGC MS 62 (Auction 412, lot 1010), with an estimate of €7,500 (about $8,300)
  • a 1929 Czechoslovakia 5 Ducat - Trade Coinage graded NGC MS 65 (Auction 412, lot 1249), with an estimate of €7,500 (about $8,300)
  • a set of five China 1993 50 Yuan graded NGC PF 68 Ultra Cameo to NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo (Auction 412, lot 1279), with an estimate of €7,500 (about $8,300)
  • a set of five China 1993 50 Yuan graded NGC PF 64 Ultra Cameo to NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo (Auction 412, lot 1280), with an estimate of €7,500 (about $8,300)
  • a set of five China 1996 50 Yuan graded NGC PF 68 Ultra Cameo to NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo (Auction 412, lot 1297), with an estimate of €7,500 (about $8,300)
  • a China 1906 Yunnan Copper Pattern 10 Cents graded NGC UNC Details (Auction 412, lot 1975), with an estimate of €6,000 (about $6,600)
