Czechoslovakia Rarity Among Hundreds of NGC-graded World and Ancient Coins in Stack's Bowers Sale

The Global Showcase Auction in August features NGC-certified coins and medals from around the world.

A Czechoslovakia rarity expected to realize six figures is among more than 700 ancient and world coins and medals certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) in an upcoming sale. Stack’s Bowers’ Global Showcase Auction series includes Session BSession D and Session F, being held August 12-17, 2024.

Among the top highlights of the auction series is a Czechoslovakia 1938 10 Ducats graded NGC MS 67 (Session D, lot 42088), with an estimate of $100,000 to $150,000. According to the auction house, less than 200 were struck and few of these gold coins are known to have survived the turbulence of World War II and the Communist era. Among the last issues from the First Czechoslovak Republic, examples of this coin are seldom seen at auction.

  • a Spain (1188-1230) 1 Maravedi - Alfonso IX graded NGC MS 63 (Session D, lot 42641), with an estimate of $50,000 to $100,000
  • a China 2004 Gold 10,000 Yuan Panda graded NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo (Session D, lot 42071), with an estimate of $75,000 to $85,000
  • a China 2016Y 1 Kilogram Gold Honolulu HSNA Show Official Panda Issue graded NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo (Session D, lot 42076), with an estimate of $75,000 to $85,000
  • a Bolivia 1849-PTS M. G85 KM-A103 Bust Right graded NGC AU 50 (Session F, lot 44327), with an estimate of $60,000 to $80,000
  • a Great Britain 1746 Lima 5 Guineas graded NGC AU 55 (Session B, lot 40153), with an estimate of $50,000 to $70,000
  • a Chile 1755/1SO J 8 Reales graded NGC AU 55 (Session F, lot 44051), with an estimate of $35,000 to $50,000
  • a Bolivia 1852PTS FP Gold 8 Scudos - Left Facing Bust graded NGC MS 63+ (Session F, lot 44329), with an estimate of $30,000 to $40,000
  • an England 1688 5 Guineas graded NGC AU 53 (Session B, lot 40136), with an estimate of $30,000 to $40,000
  • a Great Britain 1707E 6 Pence - Plain Edge pedigreed as the Bull plate coin graded NGC PF 63 (Session B, lot 40148), with an estimate of $25,000 to $35,000
