Global Coin recently released a limited edition medal for the 40th Anniversary of "God Bless the USA" in collaboration with Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Lee Greenwood. The patriotic collectible is now available for purchase in several ways, including as an NGC-graded Proof 70 Ultra Cameo encapsulated with a label that is hand-signed by the legendary American musician.
Commemorating four decades of Greenwood's iconic "God Bless the USA" anthem, the medal joins the song as a timeless tribute to patriotism and American pride. The obverse depicts Lady Liberty in front of an American flag, while the reverse shows two bald eagles as well as the lyrics "Proud to be an American" and "1984-2024," referencing the 40 years since the song debuted.
"The song just about wrote itself. The words seemed to flow naturally from the music and came out with total honesty," Greenwood wrote in his 1993 book titled 'God Bless the U.S.A.: Biography of a Song.' "They were an expression of my feelings of pride. To me, America seemed just like a rookery, a place where we have a chance to grow, unmolested and free."
