Champion Macau Offers High-Grade Chinese Vintage Rarity Certified by NGC

An upcoming auction of Chinese coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) promises a rare glimpse into the rich tapestry of China’s numismatic history. Bidding is already underway for more than 200 NGC-graded coins that are part of the Champion Macau Auction, which will be held on April 6, 2024.
Featured in the auction is a China 1898 (YR24) Anhwei Silver Dollar - Small Rosette graded NGC MS 66 and pedigreed to the Hsi/NC Collection (lot 0066), which has an estimate of $100,000 to $200,000. Silver coinage of this time period is rare from Anhui, a landlocked province about 100 miles west of Shanghai. The NGC Census lists a total of 32 examples of this coin, none of which are numerically graded higher than this one.

- a China YR24 (1898) Anhwei Silver 1 Dollar – “A.S.T.C.” graded NGC MS 65 (lot 0067) with an estimate of $80,000 to $160,000
- a Hong Kong, China 1868 Victoria Dollar graded NGC PF 62 (lot 0148) with an estimate of $65,000 to $130,000
- a China 1912 Memento 10 Cents graded NGC MS 66 (lot 0070) with an estimate of $50,000 to $100,000
- a China 1923 Copper Pattern Dollar - Tsao Kun Civilian Clothes graded NGC MS 63 BN and pedigreed to Kann/Goodman/YIF Collection (lot 0096) with an estimate of $30,000 to $60,000
- a China (1897) Szechuan Brass Ferracute Pattern Dollar graded NGC SP 61 and pedigreed to the YIF Collection (lot 0091) with an estimate of $10,000 to $20,000
- a China 1910 Sinkiang 5 Mace - Dot in Center graded NGC MS 66 and pedigreed to the NC Collection (lot 0069) with an estimate of $10,000 to $20,000
- a China YR3 (1914) Kansu Silver Dollar graded NGC AU 50 and pedigreed to the YIF Collection (lot 0113) with an estimate of $10,000 to $20,000
- a China 1897 Fengtien Brass 20 Cents – “Teng-Tien” graded NGC MS 62 and pedigreed to the NC Collection (lot 0072) with an estimate of $10,000 to $20,000
