Early Cent Among NGC-certified US Rarities in Stack's Bowers Sale
Posted on 2/29/2024
Hundreds of rare American coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®), including several dating back to the dawn of US coinage, are being offered in a Stack’s Bowers Galleries sale. Bidding is already underway for the Spring 2024 Auction on March 26, 2024.
Among the highlights is a 1793 Wreath Cent – Vine & Bars graded NGC MS 64+ BN (lot 4008). Wreath is one of the four major types of 1793-dated Cents, with the initial vine and bars design on the edge being replaced later with lettering reading: ONE HUNDRED FOR A DOLLAR. The high relief of these Large Cents makes them especially appealing to collectors today. This particular example, of the Sheldon-8 variety, had been off the market for decades and was recently certified by NGC.
