Posted on 1/29/2024
An exquisite selection of rare Italian coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) can be found in the Aurora San Marino auction on March 1, 2024. The top lot in this auction is an Italy 1904R Bronze Prova 5 Centesimi graded NGC MS 64 BN (lot 283), which has a starting price of €50,000 (about $54,000).
This is the only example of this coin in the NGC Census, and it comes from a mintage of just five, according to the auction house. Its obverse shows Victor Emmanuel III, who was the King of Italy from 1900 to 1946, a pivotal period in Italian history that encompassed both World Wars.
