Certified Collectibles Group Promotes Mateo Zhao to Senior Vice President of Business Development in Asia

Posted on 2/2/2024

Zhao’s promotion comes as the NGC Shanghai office greatly enhances the convenience of its services, which help create a safer marketplace for collectors.

The Certified Collectibles Group (CCG) is pleased to announce the promotion of Mateo Zhao, CCG’s first employee in mainland China, to Senior Vice President of Business Development in Asia. Zhao is CCG’s most senior employee in Asia, reporting directly to CCG’s CEO and President.

Zhao has been instrumental in the growth of CCG’s services in Asia. He has a deep understanding of CCG’s services, the collectibles market and customer needs, which enables him to build and manage mutually beneficial partnerships with dealers, auction houses, marketplaces and other platforms, helping them to use CCG’s services to optimize their own offerings.

Full-time certification and encapsulation services for certain collectibles are offered through CCG’s affiliate in mainland China: NGC Shanghai Business Information Consulting Co., Ltd. (NGC Shanghai). These collectibles include coins, medals and tokens, which are certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC); banknotes, which are certified by Paper Money Guaranty (PMG); and stamps, which are certified by Authenticated Stamp Guaranty (ASG) stamp grading. Dozens of employees work at the office of NGC Shanghai.

In December 2023, CCG conducted its first on-site grading event for trading card games and sports cards, which are certified by CGC Cards, another CCG affiliate. Meanwhile, through its affiliate in Hong Kong, CCG accepts submissions to NGC and PMG on a full-time basis while periodically offering on-site grading for NGC, PMG and ASG.

Zhao’s promotion comes as CCG continues to expand and enhance its services in Asia. In 2024, the company will host additional CGC Cards on-site grading events at the NGC Shanghai office, with full-time card grading planned for later in the year. In Hong Kong, the company will soon accept submissions for CGC Cards. CCG is also expanding elsewhere in Asia, with an office in Tokyo scheduled to open by the end of 2024.

“It’s been an honor to be a part of CCG’s expansion throughout China and beyond,” Zhao said. “As Senior Vice President of Business Development in Asia, I look forward to helping our continued expansion throughout the region, which is key to CCG’s global success.”

“Mateo is one of the most driven employees at CCG, and he has been instrumental to our success in China,” said Steven R. Eichenbaum, CEO of CCG. “I am confident that his expertise and innovative ideas will help CCG as it continues to bring its services to a wider audience in Asia, including our upcoming expansion in Japan.”

Together, the CCG companies have certified more than 88 million collectibles to become a leading global provider of expert, impartial and tech-enabled services for collectibles. Interested in pursuing a career in collectibles? Visit collectiblesgroup.com/careers.
