Austrian Coin Certified by NGC Expected to Sell for Six Figures in Hess Divo Auction

A centuries-old Austrian coin certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) and pedigreed to the Paramount Collection is being offered in an upcoming Hess Divo sale. Bidding is already underway for Auction 341, which will be held December 13, 2023.

The top lot in the auction is an Austria (1662-65) 20 Ducats graded NGC MS 61 (lot 193) with a starting price of 250,000 CHF (about $280,000). Featured on the coin is an image of Archduke of Further Austria Sigismund Francis, the final heir of the younger Tyrolean line of Habsburgs. He passed away at the age of 34 in 1665 after ruling only two and a half years. Just two examples of this coin are known to still exist today, according to the auction house.
