NGC-certified Modern Polish Coin Stands Out in Niemczyk Auction

The coin is among over 250 NGC-certified world coins offered in the sale on December 9-12.

A modern coin that pays tribute to one of Poland’s greatest heroes is among over 250 rarities certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) in an upcoming sale. Online bidding is already underway for Niemczyk Auction 42 on December 9-12, 2023.

Among the top lots in the sale is a Poland 1990MW Gold 200,000 Zlotych - Tadeusz Kosciuszko graded NGC PF 67 Ultra Cameo (lot 2366) with a starting price of 36,000 PLN (about $9,100). This one-ounce coin with a low mintage serves as a commemorative tribute to Polish hero Tadeusz Kosciuszko.

Kosciuszko, a pivotal figure in both American and Polish history, was a military engineer and leader. Renowned for his role in the American Revolutionary War, he later returned to Poland, where he became a central figure in the country's struggle for independence. His military expertise and unwavering commitment to liberty made him a national hero in Poland, leading him to lead the 1794 Kosciuszko Uprising against foreign occupation.

  • a Poland 1834CNB NA 20 Zlotych graded NGC MS 60 (lot 753) with a starting price of 8,000 PLN (about $2,000)
  • a Germany 1741 Half Thaler Saxony-Vicariat Issue graded NGC MS 64 (lot 582) with a starting price of 5,000 PLN (about $1,300)
