'Three Emperors' Coin Certified by NGC Realizes More than $400,000

Hundreds of sought-after world coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) and banknotes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) were sold in the 35th Ginza Coins Auction on November 18, 2023.
The top-selling item in the auction was a rare Bohemia (1612-19) Prague 10 Ducats graded NGC MS 60 (lot 823), which realized 69,900,000 JPY (about $474,000). This coin is known as the Three Emperors because of the rulers featured on its obverse. They are Maximilian I and his grandsons Charles V and Ferdinand I, who ruled the Holy Roman Empire in succession from 1508 to 1556. Together, the Habsburg rulers established their land as a formidable force in Central Europe.

- a US 1915-S Panama-Pacific Octagonal 50 Dollars graded NGC MS 62 (lot 1023), which realized 11,184,000 JPY (about $76,000)
- a British India 1835.(C) Gold Restrike 2 Mohurs graded NGC PF 64 Cameo (lot 951), which realized 11,184,000 JPY (about $76,000)
- a Great Britain 1887 5 Sovereign graded NGC PF 63 Cameo (lot 931), which realized 8,155,000 JPY (about $55,000)
- a Great Britain 1847 Gothic Type Crown graded NGC PF 64 Cameo (lot 925), which realized 6,990,000 JPY (about $47,000)
- a Vietnam 1848-83 Annam 4 Tien graded NGC MS 63 (lot 1030), which realized 6,524,000 JPY (about $44,000)
- a Great Britain 1893 5 Sovereign graded NGC PF 61 Ultra Cameo (lot 934), which realized 4,543,500 JPY (about $31,000)
- a Great Britain 1826 2 Sovereign graded NGC PF 63 Ultra Cameo (lot 919), which realized 4,077,500 JPY (about $28,000)

- a China 1918 ND (1925) 100 Dollars Specimen graded PMG 40 Extremely Fine (lot 459), which realized 1,223,250 JPY (about $8,300)
