NGC Registry Featured Set: Canada Gold Maple Leafs

Last month, we ventured into outer space and showcased otherworldly creatures with a unique NGC Registry Star Wars set. This month, we bring our focus back down to Earth with a lovely Gold Maple Leaf, 50 Dollars (1 Ounce) set from Canada, found here.

The maple leaf has long been an established symbol of Canada’s culture and heritage. For Canadian gold coinage, the gold maple leaf design dates back to 1979, the start date of this popular one-ounce, gold bullion set in the NGC Registry.

The NGC Registry offers ten different gold maple leaf set types, and the one-ounce set is the most popular of all. With a whopping 157,000+ points for his set, Gold Beaver currently sits at the top of the pack in the coveted first place. At 98% completion, this set is missing only the latest new issue, the 2023 coin.

NGC has graded 222 of the 2023 coins to date with a Top Pop MS 70 for only 26 coins. The Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) recently announced the 2023 coin is mined from a single source to ensure quality and purity. The source is the Newmont Éléonore Mine in Northern Quebec. Marie Lemay, the president of the RCM, stated, “With this new single mine coin, made of directly traceable gold from Newmont’s Éléonore mine to our gold refinery in Ottawa, we are demonstrating continued excellence in terms of precious metal sourcing, refining and manufacturing.” It will be interesting to see who the first collector will be to add this coveted new release to their NGC Registry set! Will it be Gold Beaver or someone else?
