Trigometric Auction Spotlights Rare PMG-certified Notes and NGC-certified Coins from Southeast Asia

Posted on 10/5/2023

The rarities in the October sale include a seldom-seen Specimen Proof from Malaysia.

More than 700 notes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) and more than 100 coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) are being offered by Trigometric in an upcoming auction. Bidding is already underway for the auction, titled A Special Collection of Chinese, Malaysia and World Banknotes, World Coins & Cards, with Session 1 and Session 2 scheduled for October 21-22, 2023.

The top lot in the auction is a Malaysia, Bank Negara ND (1976-81) 1,000 Ringgit Specimen Proof graded PMG 67 Superb Gem Uncirculated EPQ (Session 2, lot 2682). PMG has certified nearly 500,000 notes from Malaysia, more than for any other country except China and the United States. This is Malaysia's highest denomination, and these Specimen Proofs are very rare. This note has an estimate of RM130,000 to RM180,000 (about $28,000 to $38,000).
