Two historic French coins are among the highlights in the October 2023 sale.

Two French coins from a magnificent collection are the top highlights among hundreds of coins and medals from around the world graded by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) that are featured in an upcoming MDC Monaco auction. Online bidding is already underway for the Numismatic Auction 13: Ancient and World Coins sale, which will be held October 12-13, 2023.

The top NGC-certified coin in this auction is a France 1640A 8 Louis d'Or graded NGC MS 61 and pedigreed to The Paramount Collection (lot 1560), which has a starting price of €250,000 (about $267,400). The rarity depicts an effigy of King Louis XIII, who reigned over France from 1610 to 1643. The gold coins were created as an homage piece, and this particular example is the finest of three in the NGC Census.
