Posted on 9/12/2023

Hundreds of NGC-certified European and world coins are being offered in a September 29 sale.

Hundreds of world coins from around the globe that are graded by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®), including numerous Italian rarities, are featured in an upcoming Aurora San Marino auction. Bidding is already underway for Aurora's Floor Auction 30 sale, which will be held September 29, 2023.

The top NGC-certified coin in this auction is an Italy 1907 Prova Gold 100 Lire graded NGC SP 64 Cameo (lot 221) with a starting price of 90,000 EUR (about $96,250). The obverse of the coin features a portrait of Victor Emmanuel III of Italy, who ascended the Italian throne in July 1900 following the assassination of his father, Umberto I. A member of the House of Savoy, Emmanuel's nearly five-decade reign oversaw the creation, rise to prominence and eventual downfall of the Fascist regime in Italy in what was a tumultuous period, as the country became embroiled in two world wars.
