Posted on 8/15/2023

NGC also offered free on-site evaluations at the auction, held in Thailand in August.

Several rare Thailand coins and banknotes, certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) and Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®), respectively, realized impressive results in Eur-Seree Auction #64 on August 5-6, 2023.

The top coin in the auction was a Thailand BE2525 (1982) Gold 6,000 Baht - Queen Sirikit’s Birthday graded NGC PF 70 Ultra Cameo (lot 2254). Bidding for this coin started at 300,000 THB (about $9,000), and it went on to realize 1,100,000 THB (about $31,000). In her 66 years as Queen Consort, Sirikit actively promoted education, health care and women's rights while working to uplift marginalized communities in Thailand. She has been Queen Mother of Thailand since her husband, King Rama IX, passed away in 2016.

NGC Offered Free On-Site Evaluations

Representatives from NGC attended the Eur-Seree Auction in Thailand to provide free on-site evaluations. The event was successful, with local collectors learning more about authentication, assessing a coin’s condition and the benefits of grading.

"I am a long-time collector, and this event gave me a fresh look at grading. With [NGC Senior Grading Finalizer] Mr. Liu’s expertise, I can avoid my personal guessing and get positive and immediate feedback on coins in my collection," said Kriengkrai Hirunpunthip, President of Numismatic Association, Thailand.

The free coin consultation event marks a pioneering initiative in Southeast Asia, notably in Thailand's market. The strong and enduring partnership between the Certified Collectibles Group (CCG), of which NGC and PMG are part, and Eur-Seree, combined with Eur-Seree's significant market influence wielded as Thailand's foremost numismatic auction firm, results in a synergistic effect. This not only promises lasting advantages for local collector communities but also cements the dominant market positions of both CCG and Eur-Seree.

"I am very glad that CCG proposed and adopted such an active marketing approach to cater to bidders and visitors who presented at Eur-Seree Auction Sale #64. This is the very first of its kind, and it is generated from the mutual trust and long-built business relationship between us and CCG. We look forward to expanding our collaboration in every positive format to benefit the collecting community in the long run," said Vitoon Eurtivong, CEO of Eur-Seree Collecting, Thailand’s premier auction house.
