Rare Italian Coins Certified by NGC Featured in Nomisma Sale

Hundreds of world coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation® (NGC®) are being offered being in a three-part Nomisma sale on September 2-3, 2023. The coins include some of the greatest rarities in Italian numismatics.
Among the most interesting lots is an Italy 1860B 20 Lire Emilia graded NGC MS 63 (lot 1263) with a starting price of €100,000 (about $110,000). The coin was struck in extremely limited numbers at a time when control of Emilia, a region in northern Italy, had just passed from Austria to Italy. Victor Emmanuel II, the King of Sardinia and Duke of Savoy, unified Italy under his reign in the 1860s. This particular coin is the highest graded of four recorded in the NGC Census.

- an Italy 1740 AD Venice Alvise Pisani 4 Zecchini graded NGC MS 60 (lot 735) with a starting price of €35,000 (about $38,000)
- an Italy 1859B Emilia 5 Lire graded NGC MS 64 (lot 1264) with a starting price of €18,000 (about $20,000)
- an Italy 1861T B 50 Centesimi graded NGC AU 55 (lot 1326) with a starting price of €25,000 (about $27,000)
- an Italy 1873R 5 Lire graded NGC MS 62 (lot 1315) with a starting price of €15,000 (about $16,000)
- an Italy 1925R Silver Jubilee 100 Lire graded NGC PF 65 Matte (lot 1381) with a starting price of €18,000 (about $20,000)
- an Italy 1937R XVI 100 Lire graded NGC MS 62 (lot 1385) with a starting price of €30,000 (about $33,000)
- a Romania 1940 Uncircled Bust 100 Lei graded NGC MS 61 (lot 338) with a starting price of €70,000 (about $77,000)
