NGC Signs Exclusive Signature Label Deal with Artist Claudio D'Angelo

Artist and coin designer Claudio D'Angelo, renowned for his lifelike paintings of animals, has agreed to individually hand-sign certification labels exclusively for Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®). He is well-known within the numismatic community for his collaborations with the Royal Canadian Mint, which has featured his artwork on coins for over a decade.

The Canada 2023 Striking Bald Eagle series features a bold reverse design by D’Angelo of a pair of perched eagles. The new series includes two coins: a 50 mm, 2-ounce silver coin (with only 4,500 minted) and a 30 mm, 1-ounce gold coin (with only 600 minted). The wildlife-themed collection continues D'Angelo's 2022 The Mighty Bison program. The series celebrates animals that find their habitat in both Canada and the United States. This year’s design artfully portrays two bald eagles, symbolizing the duality of their host countries.

In addition to his coin designs for the Royal Canadian Mint, D'Angelo's work has been featured in numerous private and corporate collections in the US, Canada and across Europe. His art has graced magazines, appeared on conservation stamps and been showcased in art books. D'Angelo's paintings have been exhibited at the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Wyoming, the Algonquin Art Centre in Ontario, the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wisconsin, the Bennington Center for the Arts in Vermont and elsewhere.

The Quebec-based painter began his career as a commercial artist, working as an illustrator. However, D'Angelo continued to pursue his passion for drawing and painting animals, and eventually became a full-time painter. His art has been featured on dozens of Royal Canadian Mint coins, including:
