NGC-graded Una and the Lion Realizes $241,000

An Una and the Lion graded by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) led the way in SINCONA's Auction 83, which was held May 15-17, 2023.
The Great Britain 1839 Una and the Lion 5 Sovereign graded NGC PF 60 Ultra Cameo (lot 2097) realized 216,000 CHF (about $241,000) to take the top spot in the sale. The coin's design is renowned for its depiction of the young Queen Victoria on the obverse as well as the reverse, where she is shown as the character of Lady Una guiding a lion in the epic poem "The Faerie Queene."

Meanwhile, over 500 NGC-certified coins were offered in another SINCONA sale: Auction 82, which constituted Part 4 of the unparalleled SINCONA British Collection. - a Romania 1939 20 Lei - Eagle Over Arms graded NGC MS 63+ (lot 3485), which realized 78,000 CHF (about $87,000)
- a Portugal (1521-57) 10 Cruzados graded NGC AU 53 (lot 3351), which realized 66,000 CHF(about $74,000)
- a Great Britain 1920 Gold Pattern 2 Sovereign graded NGC PF 62 Ultra Cameo (lot 2072), which realized 60,000 CHF (about $67,000)
- a Romania 1940 Lei - Uncircled Bust graded NGC MS 61 (lot 3488), which realized 57,600 CHF (about $64,000)
- a Switzerland 1740 Basel 3 Ducat graded NGC MS 61 PL (lot 4605), which realized 55,200 CHF (about $61,000)
