Künker Offers Extremely Rare German Coin Certified by NGC

The gold German rarity is pedigreed by NGC to the Paramount Collection.

An extremely rare Germany Saxony 10 Ducat from the 1600s certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) is turning heads in an upcoming auction. Online bidding is already underway for Künker’s Auction Sale #380, which is set to end on February 2, 2023.

The Germany 1611 Saxony 10 Ducat graded NGC MS 65★ and pedigreed to the Paramount Collection (lot 835) is the only example in the NGC Census. The obverse of the coin depicts Christian II, ruler of Saxony until his death in 1611 at the age of 27. It has an estimate of €250,000 (about $271,000).

Another NGC-certified coin featured in the auction is a Hungary 1657AI Transylvania 10 Ducat graded NGC AU 58 (lot 485). The obverse of the coin features Prince George II Rákóczi, who succeeded his father George I Rákóczi in 1648. George II invaded and pillaged much of Poland in 1657; however, he was forced to retreat and his army was destroyed. The reverse of the coin depicts the Transylvanian coat of arms and the Rákóczi coat of arms. It has an estimate of €150,000 (about $162,000).

  • a Mexico 1916 TM Oaxaca Gold 60 Pesos graded NGC MS 62 (lot 511) that has an estimate of €60,000 (about $64,900)
  • a 1915-S Panama-Pacific Exposition Round $50 graded NGC MS 63+ (lot 541) that has an estimate of €60,000 (about $64,900)
  • a 1915-S Panama-Pacific Exposition Octagonal $50 graded NGC MS 64+ (lot 542) that has an estimate of €60,000 (about $64,900)
  • a Germany 1698 GFN Nurnberg City View 5 Ducat graded NGC MS 61 (lot 792) that has an estimate of €50,000 (about $54,100)
  • a Germany 1640 Bavaria 5 Ducat - Date Above graded NGC MS 63+ (lot 643) that has an estimate of €40,000 (about $43,300)
