Posted on 12/14/2022
Dozens of vintage Portuguese and Brazilian coins that are certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) are being offered in the Leilão XVIII auction on Diamantino Leilões. Bidding is already underway for the December 19, 2022 auction.
One highlight from this auction is a Brazil 1822R Peter I Coronation 6400 Reis graded NGC AU Details (lot 304) with a starting bid of €149,000 (about $159,000). In 1822, Pedro I was crowned the first emperor of Brazil. To celebrate that significant event, these gold coins were struck, with a mintage of only 64. Only 16 coins survive today, and most of them are in museums.
