NGC-certified Chinese Coin Sells for Over $200,000 in Macau Auction

Four Chinese rarities realizing over $100,000 each were among over 100 Chinese coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company™ (NGC®) that were sold at a recent auction in Asia. The 2022 Champion Macau Autumn Auction was held in Macau, China, on November 27, 2022.
The top-selling coin of this sale was a China YR24 (1898) Anhwei Silver Dollar - Large Rosette graded NGC MS 65 and pedigreed to the NC Collection (lot 137), which realized $246,000. This is one of only 41 examples in the NGC Census, with only two of them graded higher. It comes from a renowned collection formed from some of the greatest rarities in Chinese provincial coinage.
Other NGC-certified highlights from the November 2022 auction were:
- a China YR24(1898) Anhwei Silver Dollar graded NGC MS 64 and pedigreed to Hsi/NC Collection (lot 138) which realized $144,000
- a China YR10(1871) Gold Fantasy 25 Tael graded NGC MS 63 (lot 134) which realized $126,000
- a China 1923 Gold Dollar graded NGC UNC Details (lot 133) which realized $120,000
- a China 1863-dated Fantasy Gold 5 Taels graded NGC MS 63 and pedigreed to the Kann Collection (lot 135) which realized $97,200
- a China 1902-1906 Anhwei Copper 10 Cash graded NGC MS 63 BN and pedigreed to the NC Collection (lot 140) which realized $67,200
- a China 1908 Kirin Silver Dollar - Manchu Legend graded NGC AU Details and pedigreed to the NC Collection (lot 139) which realized $60,000
Prices realized include buyer’s premium.
